Frequently Asked Questions
The Basics
When is the wedding?
Our wedding weekend is Friday, 22 - Sunday 24 October 2027. We'll be celebrating all weekend, with the main ceremony and reception taking place on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Where is everything happening?
The wedding will take place in Kaapschehoop, Mpumalanga. All of the wedding activities will be in the village, with the ceremony and reception at the Silver Mist venue. Specific event details are all included in the schedule.
What time should I arrive?
We're kicking things off with a welcome braai on Friday afternoon at 17:00 (check-in at Silver Mist from 14:00), followed by yoga at 07:00 on Saturday morning (only for those who enjoy early mornings). You'll then have some time to explore Kaapschehoop before the ceremony at 15:00 (be seated at 14:30). After the ceremony, we'll have drinks, photos, dinner and plenty of dancing before wrapping things up on Sunday with a send-off breakfast at 09:00.
Staying Over
Where can I stay over?
The Silver Mist Country Inn is offering 10% off accommodation for wedding guests on the night of the wedding. Book before 31 August 2027 to make use of this offer. This is a great option, as it's within walking distance from all the festivities. Staying with the rest of the wedding guests also makes for a lovely, intimate and festive atmosphere for the whole weekend.
There is plenty of room to accommodate all the wedding guests for the weekend. Check out the various room options here.

Kaapschehoop also offers many other accommodation options for those who prefer to stay further away.
Can I arrive early or stay an extra night?
Absolutely! The wedding celebrations will take place over the weekend, but you are welcome to extend your stay to enjoy all the wonderful things Kaapschehoop has to offer.
What should I bring for the weekend?
Kaapschehoop's weather is quite unpredictable, so pack some layers. Apart from your Ceremony and Reception outfit, pack comfortable clothes to walk around in and explore the town and surroundings. There are also some lovely day hikes in the area, as well as a (very cold) waterfall to swim in. Bring sunscreen and a hat, as well as an umbrella. Remember your yoga mat if you're joining us for Mindful Yoga on Sauturday morning.
The Ceremony and Reception
What is the dress code for the Ceremony and Reception?
For the Saturday afternoon/evening portion of the weekend, the dress code is Cocktail. For women, choose knee-length, tea-length or midi dresses. A little black dress is a classic choice, but jewel tones (emeral, ruby, sapphire), and soft florals also work well. Choose luxury fabrics like silk, satin, or chiffon. For men, well-tailored suits in versatile shades like navy, charcoal, or black work well. Pair with a crisp dress shirt. A tie is optional. Finish with dress shoes or loafers.

Avoid denim, t-shirts, shorts, and casual cotton sundresses, as well as sneakers, flip-flops, and rugged sandals. Skip gala gowns and tuxedos - we want you to be comfortable.
Can we take our own photos?
The Ceremony will be unplugged - kindly put all phones and cameras away for this portion. We want all of our loved ones to be fully present to share these meaningful moments with us. We will have a professional photographer to make sure we capture the memories for everyone.

Feel free to take photos and videos throughout the rest of the weekend, but please only post the ones we look amazing in.
What happens if it rains?
Both the Ceremony and Reception are happening indoors, so we'll be fine if it rains.
Will special dietary requirements be catered for?
We want to ensure that all of our guests can enjoy the feasts, so we'll be catering for vegetarians and vegans. Please let us know if you have any allergies, and we'll make sure to cater for that too.
What about alcohol?
We'll supply the basics - soft drinks, wine and sparkling wine for toasts. There is also a cash bar on site. Own alcohol is not allowed, per our venue's requirements.
Additional Guests
Can I bring a plus-one?
We've taken great care to invite each guest personally. We would like to keep our celebration small and intimate, and to make sure we spend quality time with everyone. Please do not bring anyone who has not been invited.
What about children?
Children are welcome and have been personally invited. We have planned a few surprises and activities to make sure they have a wonderful time. Please note that children will be the responsibility of their parents for the duration of the weekend. The venue does not offer childcare. Children will be seated with their parents for the Ceremony and Reception.
Gifts
Do you have a gift registry?
Your presence is genuinely the biggest gift. We understand that a whole weekend away takes a lot of planning and significant cost. However, if you do want to give us something, we've created a honeymoon experience fund instead of a traditional registry. You can help us make memories rather than accumulate more homeware.
